It’s a fact that if we keep searching for happiness from someone or something, then we will be dependent on an external source for our happiness. But instead, if we believe that happiness is something that exists within us, in our thoughts, beliefs, inner conscious, then we can easily achieve our goal of becoming happy. So, happiness is your choice of thoughts that can produce a pleasant feeling in your subconscious mind
You need to always remember that positive thoughts create positive emotions or feelings and accordingly a positive state of mind. Just like how one perceives certain traits like being confident, fearful, having attention, interest, anger, etc. to be inclusive and individualistic, happiness is also the same.

1. Exercise more
Lots of studies on this one. Exercising releases the good mood endorphins so that you are always in a better mood after a workout or simply a walk to the supermarket. I have never met a person in a bad mood after a workout. But where is the scientific evidence?
The University of Toronto did a great job on this and analyzed no less than 24 research studies.(1) The conclusion was that physical activity can and does help to keep depression at day.
The best study I know is where three groups of depressed people are put on a regime of anti-depressants, exercise or a combination of the two. No surprise to know that all three groups were happy, but did it last? Six months later, the group who had been treated with exercise only, had a very low relapse rate of 9%. The other two groups had relapsed and how! Their rates were ranging from 38% to 31%, so about a third of them were now depressed again.
2.Don’t take yourself so seriously
Hold yourself with a ‘light hand. Laugh at your foibles with amusement.
When things get tough or stress arises, lift your shoulders with an “oh well…” Know that it’s never as big or life devastating as your mind thinks.
Happy people trust that whatever glitch happens will work itself out.
They give a Laugh and a “So what? Who cares? Big Deal! Why not?” when met with resistances.
3. Focus on the positive.
To find long-term happiness, you need to retrain your brain from a negative mindset to a positive mindset. Try these things: Spend one to two minutes looking for positives in your life. Do this three times a day for 45 days, and your brain will start doing it automatically.
Choose a positive mantra for the day — something you will repeat to yourself, such as “Today is beautiful” or “I feel grateful for all I have.” And when things go south, take a moment to try and see it from a positive light. Never underestimate the importance of recognizing the silver linings in life.
4.Be grateful
Simply being grateful can give your mood a big boost, among other benefits. For example, a recent two-part study found that practicing gratitude can have a significant impact on feelings of hope and happiness.
Start each day by acknowledging one thing you’re grateful for. You can do this while you’re brushing your teeth or just waiting for that snoozed alarm to go off.
As you go about your day, try to keep an eye out for pleasant things in your life. They can be big things, such as knowing that someone loves you or getting a well-deserved promotion.
But they can also be little things, such as a co-worker who offered you a cup of coffee or the neighbor who waved to you. Maybe even just the warmth of the sun on your skin.
With a little practice, you may even become more aware of all the positive things around you.
5.Listen to music to drown out negative thoughts.
Besides the fun you’ll have dancing to upbeat tunes, there’s actually science to back up the notion that uplifting songs can positively impact your brain.
“Music has been found to reduce pain, alleviate anxiety, increase immune functioning, and increase positive emotions,” says azaizi Marshall, founder and CEO of the centre for creative Therapy, an arts-based psychotherapy practice and training center in Chicago. “Music has a direct link to your emotions, so when you’re stressed out, sing along and feel the anxiety leave your body.”
